OUR TERRAZZO

Stone Design offers terrazzo floors and surfaces in Vancouver, Vancouver Island and beyond. Traditional terrazzo is simply marble chips in a concrete matrix. Other materials such as abalone shells, glass aggregate and stones can be added to utilize recycled content or provide aesthetic options. Victoria Stone Design have been working with various iterations of terrazzo for over 20 years. We have developed our own techniques to create traditional looking terrazzo and new visionary aesthetics.

With our background in precast, Victoria Stone Design has the ability to match your terrazzo floors with various other precast surfaces, and integrate both cast in place and precast solutions. Our expertise in modern chemistry and tooling mixed with old world techniques allows for possibilities once never imagined for terrazzo design.

What is in our mix? THE RAW MATERIALS

Aggregates

Pick your size and colour of aggregate. Aggregates can include traditional limestone, or local ready mix stones. Glass, mother of pearl or recycled content can be utilized.

Integral Colour

Terrazzo can be integrally coloured any shade you desire. Just light paint, we can start with a white base mix or a dark shade to give the whitest of whites, darkest shades, bright pink and everything in between

Cement

White or grey portland cement with various additives to control cracking, shrinkage and increase abrasion resistance. Mixes are customized for the application.

Aesthetics

Terrazzo can be poured in any base colour. Many types of aggregate and sand can be added to the mix, resulting in infinite design options.

Durability

Terrazzo is one of the most durable flooring options next to ceramic tile. Just look down at any international airports, and you will see why it is utilized in the most high traffic environments.

With our terrazzo it is possible to match precast elements with your floor, to create custom design elements and unique designs.

We take our process seriously and have a lab setting when we create samples. Our pharmaceutical grade scale goes to 1/1000 of a gram, which means when we scale up, or need to do any future repairs we can replicate the mix exactly.
