Project Details
The showpiece of the bakery is the custom sedimentary-style concrete wall, built layer by layer to replicate the natural strata found in stone formations along the BC coastline. Every tone shift and texture was intentionally crafted, creating a tactile, sculptural surface that becomes a focal point from every angle.
To ground the design, we installed a matching terrazzo floor, blending the same warm, natural tones found in the wall. The terrazzo’s polished finish reflects light across the space, enhancing the sense of openness while withstanding the demands of a bustling café environment. The aggregates were selected to echo the colours and textures of the surrounding architecture, creating a visual and material connection throughout the space.
From early concept discussions with the design team to the final polish before opening day, this project demonstrates how polished concrete finishes and custom terrazzo installations can be elevated into true architectural statements. Both the wall and floor serve as functional surfaces and works of art—inviting customers to experience not only the exceptional pastries and coffee, but the craftsmanship that defines the Small Victory brand.
