Terrazzo Restoration
Victoria Stone Design was asked to match the original terrazzo tiles installed in the Royal BC Museum. There was two different original tile colours and the renovation / upgrade to the escalator meant disturbing both types. It was decided to create a third tone that split the difference between the two terrazzo tile types.
Colour matching
When matching terrazzo, base colour, aggregate colour and aggregate density needs to be considered. Victoria Stone Design has over 100 terrazzo types in the lab to enable quick colour matches.
Grinding & Polishing
Once the tiles were cured, they were ground and polished with heavy duty flooring grinders. Backing the tiles with UHPC meant that they strong enough to take this kind of weight.
