Medallion for Vancouver home.

A client recently approached us to create a terrazzo floor for a home in the British Properties, Vancouver, BC. She had a vision for terrazzo and specifically inquired about incorporating a family crest into the front entrance. We assured her that custom design is part of our expertise, and we began developing samples and refining the process to bring her vision to life.

Design & Samples

We created multiple rounds of color samples to fine-tune the design and ensure the medallion had enough contrast against the surrounding terrazzo. The center circle used the same base mix as the main floor but with extra titanium dioxide to brighten it and make it stand out. For added depth and reflection, the moons in the center were cast with silver-plated glass, bringing a touch of richness to the design.

The design was printed from a DXF file and used for the site layout. Once positioned, the SD team began the meticulous, labor-intensive process of bending the brass divider strips and securing them in place with epoxy.
