Terrazzo Dreams Realized at King George Terrace

When Victoria Stone Design was approached by Bidgood Design to create custom terrazzo flooring for the King George Terrace residence in Victoria, BC, we knew we were in for a standout project. The homeowner had dreamed of terrazzo floors for years, and their passion set the tone from day one.

After producing a range of custom terrazzo samples, we landed on the perfect blend: a warm off-white base accented with #2 medium buff and #2 boccincino marble aggregates. To enhance both aesthetics and performance, we incorporated zinc divider strips—providing clean visual lines and essential crack control.

As with our award-winning Chancellor project, this home featured premium Shuko windows from Europe. Careful attention to detail ensured the terrazzo was perfectly flush with door openings, achieving a seamless indoor-outdoor flow.

This was our first collaboration with Point Break Development, and while every project presents unique challenges, the process evolved into a lasting friendship. Today, Point Break remains one of our favourite teams to work with. The finished floors are timeless, durable, and a true reflection of high-end terrazzo craftsmanship in Victoria, BC.

Exterior tile

An exterior precast terrazzo tile was custom-made at the Szolyd Concrete shop to perfectly match the cast-in-place terrazzo inside the home. Because the piece was structural and required crane installation, we used an ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) base layer topped with the same white terrazzo mix used indoors. This created a one-piece sandwich panel with integrated returns, giving the appearance of a solid monolithic slab. Positioned at the entrance, it offers guests an immediate preview of the craftsmanship and design awaiting them inside.

KGT featured a curb-less, seamless shower that flows effortlessly into the rest of the bathroom. The Victoria Stone Design team cast the slope directly into the terrazzo floor, then sculpted and refined it before grinding and polishing to perfection—all while maintaining flawless water drainage. The result is a completely integrated, grout-free surface that’s as functional as it is beautiful.
