Concrete stairs and entrance

Cohesive design for the home
The landing and entrance are part of a mid century modern vibe for this 1980’s built renovation. The red oak wide plank hardwood matched with cool concrete work well together.

Stair Design with concrete and steel
The concrete stairs, landing pad nosings, and top-floor nosings were all precast and precisely cut using track saws for exceptional accuracy. The stairs combined steel and concrete, utilizing a steel stringer securely mounted to the top plate and bottom floor. Each step featured welded plate steel reinforced with stiffening gussets to which the precast concrete adhered seamlessly.

The landing was constructed over a wood-framed box with double layers of plywood for stability. Like the entrance pad, the landing itself and two stairs were cast in place, while the risers were precast and meticulously scribed to fit perfectly. At the top of the second floor, the nosings were set flush with the hardwood, with steel posts passing cleanly through the precast units, ensuring both strength and a cohesive design.
