Exposed aggregate polished concrete for RR
Just about every big job site with many trades, a long build time, and a project that is awarded by tender process is not going to be ideal from a concrete polishers standpoint. Getting best results usually means preparation before the pour, discussing mix design, meetings about placement, post placement curing considerations, floor protection, saw cuts.... you get it. With this job, as with many, we were thrown into the lions den, and as often is the case, you have to make lemonade out of lemons. The slab wasn't the worst we have seen by far, but no precautions had been taken. To be fair to the GC, we don't think polished concrete was planned from the onset. Once the decision was made, the team mobilized well to deal with challenges, approve processes and options and problem solve. Stone Design went with a super heavy grind to cross section the aggregate and reveal as much stone as possible. The floor was slurry coated multiple times and polished to 800 grit.
