White Terrazzo | Vancouver
Vancouver Terrazzo
With extensive brass inlay.
Brass Divider Stips
The project started out with the extensive brass divider strips layout. The brass divider strips were part of the architects layout and help with crack control.
Back up the brass
The brass divider strips are only 1/8″ thick, and can easily be bent during a high pace pour. For this reason they are backed up with support strips.
Pouring the white concrete terrazzo
Once the brass is secured the concrete terrazzo is mixed and placed in alternating panels checkerboard style.
Grinding the terrazzo
Once the cement terrazzo is placed and cured it is time for the grinding to begin. For this project we extensively utilized New Grind Rhino 350 and 500 grinders.
Filling the voids
With 1/4″ of material ground off the placed terrazzo, many bug holes are exposed. A white polymer modified patching compound is utilized to fill in these voids and make the floor as smooth as a countertop.
Detailed brass inlays
Brass inlays were water jet cut to be placed around columns and glass details. The Victoria Stone Design crew is expected to get within 1/32″ of these details.
