Before
As can be seen in the picture, it was clearly time for a renovation.
A really rough slab
Before a new layer could be applied, layers of patch needed to be built up.
Re construction of substrate.
Extensive reconstruction of the concrete slab was under taken. Re bar and lathe was used in areas to re enforce the wood flooring and create tensile strength.
Form work
Form work for the fireplace and return for the stairs were put into place.
Fireplace and entrance prepped.
Once the fireplace was prepped and formed up, the area was ready for the thin section overlay.
A bridge to the other side
A make shift gang plank gave the crew access to the other side where the fireplace needed to be poured.
