Ready Mix Terrazzo

The floors at the Boom + Batten utilized the structural slab as the finished product. This is always a tricky installation as integrating heating, plumbing and knockouts is part of the equation while thinking about the aesthetics. Integral colour was added to the concrete at the batch plant to darken the mix. Green 3/4″ aggregate from Squamish and black glass was seeded into the slab while it was placed.

Terrazzo Logo

The part of this floor that stands out is the custom terrazzo logo at the entrance. It was separated with brass divider strips and utilized a multi step molding and casting process that yielded incredible results.

Pour Day

Victoria Stone Design worked with Farmer Construction to make sure the structural slab encapsulated all the heating and plumbing and was seeded with all the aggregates.

Saw Cuts

Saw cuts were made the next day with a soft cut machine to prevent shrinkage cracks in the freshly poured concrete slab. These cuts are back filled and routered once the slab is cured. As of July 2019, we still have a couple days to go back and touch up/ router a couple lines as project schedule time ran short. One small area was pre poured prior to Stone Design getting involved and is the only place where there is a crack in the whole building (so far, cross fingers).
