Divider Strips
Divider strips come in brass or zinc and can be between 1/8″ – 1/2″ thick. They help control cracks and act as transition between other floor materials.
Why
The primary function divider strips offer is to control cracking in your terrazzo flooring topping. Typically divider strips are placed in areas where an architect or engineer believes the floor may crack. Instead of cracking in the panel or design of the flooring, the topping will crack along the divider strip joint.
Decorative Patterning
Divider strips can also be used decoratively to frame logos, create separation of colour or add visual interest.
Transitions
Divider strips are used when joining terrazzo or concrete floors to other flooring types. Brass or Zinc are the most common and come in a variety of widths. They can be milled with the terrazzo to ensure a perfect transition between flooring types.
